CatholicKittie is back with a Cover Whore edition!

As some of yall know last year I became a multi-published author so I have been swamped. This blog, in result been pushed to the back burner. Well, not any longer. I am back and I think I figured out how to keep up with The Litterbox. SO I am BAAACK. I won't just be doing reviews either but fun stuff.

Briarcliff Township may look like any other picturesque town snuggled into the lush forests of the New England coastline but it harbors a dark secret. When the winds change old stirrings arise from long kept secrets, forgotten misdeeds and a thirst for vengeance arises.

Lust. Anger. Hate. Desire. Love. Happiness. Joy. iFeel.

What happens when an unknowing empath meets a pixie who wears leather, a snitch who is repulsive and a fiery angel who can literally set your soul on fire? A whole lot of emotional turmoil and one love story ignited.

Liv Christianni is isolated, alone, tortured and withdrawn, saddled with the torrential downpour of the world’s emotions. Accepting of her providence Liv has lost all hope, until one day fate steps in and spins the course of her life like a spiraling top. Hunted by a Spirit Stalker, Liv is forced to gain control of herself and her surroundings, threatened by the touch of her immortal love; she must find a way to survive both physically and emotionally. Can she find the courage to accept her true self? Can she love unconditionally cognizant of the condemning consequences? Can she rise from the ashes to become the person she was always meant to be?

Funny, witty, real, and poignant, iFeel rips into your soul, and sets your emotions on fire.

She has nothing left to lose...

When Breena stumbles into the enchanted borderland of Cake, she is given the choice to return to her world or face the unknown. Unable to bear returning to her empty life, she embraces the challenge, much to the annoyance of the handsome, brooding Rune.

He wants redemption...

Long ago, Rune failed in his duty to guard the Queen Likely and vowed never again to let desire rule him. Then he meets Breena, the last Likely, and least likely, to succeed. Sworn to protect her from the killer who seeks to destroy Cake, Rune is forced to face his awakening desire for the one woman he can never have.

Together, they embark on a magical journey to save Cake and while Rune abandons his heart, Breena discovers that she has everything to lose.

Book Review: The Rise Of Xosha by S. Cu'Anam Policar

The Rise of Xosha
Legend of Xosha 0.5
S Cu'Anam Polica

A tale of epic proportions.
The Rise of Xosha tells the tale of Xosha's beginnings.
Where Anjyls are mortal pawns,
Dragons rule the skies,
Wolves and elves roam the forests,
and demons lurk below the surface.

Oceanus, the leader of the last hord of dragons in the realms must find his people a new home.

Going only on the word of the odd colored white dragon, Rose, he leads the horde far from their home, over waters that seem to have no end.

Pyre, Oceanus' younger, rebellious brother must come to terms with the fact that Oceanus will never see him as anything more than a welp too young to be of any use.

Jade the youngest of the three has her own thoughts and inner demons to contend with.

Then there's Rose, The dragon with an amazing gift no one will acknowledge. The outcast of her people simply because she's the only one of her color.

Will these four ever come to terms with why they had to leave their home?

And what strange new beings will they encounter in their new territory?

Find out when you read The Rise of Xosha; The story that started the legend.

The Review:

There are some books you fall in love with as soon as you read the very first paragraph and The Rise of Xosha was one of those books. I can’t pinpoint what it was that made me fall head over heels in love with the book because there was so much done right. The world was vivid and I could see it. I connected with all the characters because they were all three-dimensional. They had rhyme and reason for everything that they did. The romance, oh my gawd, the romance. I fell totally in love with Pyre. I admit it he had me at “Oceanus, how long before we reach our destination?” I enjoyed how Pyre and Rose fell for one another. I also enjoyed how Pyre and Oceanus had a typical sibling relationship…meaning Pyre drove his big brother insane with blatant disrespect. I cracked up over it. Oceanus demanded Pyre call him Oni and I was all, yeah okay. I know I would never do that for my big brothers or sister!

I want to tell you the parts I loved about the story but I fear it would get too spoilery. Just know it will absorb you entirely even after you read the last word. All the elements congealed together at the right time and created magic. Cu’Anam Policar weaves a story that is enchanting and at some parts, it gave me chills. There was one scene while they were creating Xosha that I held my breath and didn’t realize it. I saw it being formed before my eyes and I was enthralled. Policar is some sort of word wizard is the only conclusion that can be made.

Cover Whore:
It is magical.

Excerpt

Obsidian's reverie was cut short as she realized her own grave error. “Pyre watch out!” She yelled.

Pyre snapped his head in the direction of Obsidian's frantic yell, but indeed he had been too late. A flurry of white feathers slammed into his right flank sending him spiraling out of the sky.

His talons ripped into the side of the feathered beast, which returned the gesture in kind as their forms, a ball of red scale and white feather continued their less than graceful dive.

“This ends now dragon!” the feathered one hissed in a feminine voice as her talons dug into Pyre's flank.

Pyre growled low in his throat as he finally shook the Anjyl off. “Why are you doing this?! Your kind and mine are practically cousins. Why turn on us like this?”

A laugh akin to the tinkling of bells left the feathered dragon, her gray depths burned into the dragon's with malice.

“Your kind is thorn in our sides. We cannot fully control the 'God' fearing creatures with you around.”

Pyre had heard enough, he flew at the Anjyl and gripped her left wing in with his front taloned paws, his back ones came to land on the feathered female's underside where his talons dug deeply in.  His back legs gave a sharp kick outward as his front legs pulled the wing toward his own body.

The Anjyl's eyes widened. Her sleek feathered head shook vigorously back and forth causing the thick standalone whiskers on either side of her muzzle to dance in the wind. Then, she gave out of a blood curdling screech of pain as the sound of popping bone, tissue, and feathered flesh broke through the howl of the rushing wind.

A smirk crossed Pyre's maw as he released the now useless wing. “Your kind will never be better than us Anjyl. If you survive, tell your Oni we will not fall prey to you... Hunt us again and it will be the Anjyl's that become the prey!”

He kicked out once more letting his wings unfurl to catch the upward current of the wind. His talons mucked with feathers, flesh, and gore, he gave a shrug knowing he had wasted his breath. Even as he watched, his wings giving the occasional flap to keep himself aloft, The Anjyl was falling. When she hit the water head first and did not resurface he knew it had been an wasted effort.

Above him, where the rest of the fighting sectors of the horde were, he heard growls and the clash of talons. Angling himself he began his ascent back to his brother's side, dodging the many breaths of acid, and the falling of Anjyls.

“I'm glad you're okay Pyre.” Oceanus grunted as Pyre came up beside him.

Pyre latched his maw on the neck of the large Anjyl male that was trying very much in vain to knock Oceanus from the sky. “I told you I can take care of myself.”  Was the muffled reply as the male went limp in Pyre's jaw.

Pyre let the Anjyl drop to join his kin in the bottom of the ocean. Pyre's amber depths noted the purple hue to the once blue water and had to wonder to himself if it would ever return to normal after this fight.

As the last Anjyl fell to its final resting place, Oceanus let out a strong bellow. The children, Rose, and the others lifted from the small island to rejoin the ranks of the horde. Oceanus knew the browns were a bit miffed at being left out of the fight, He also knew that Rose's Xosha required every brown dragon there to be found.

“We no longer have time and distance on our side. I'm sure that horde were not the only ones. Their leader was not among their numbers. We must make haste to our new home now. We cannot afford another battle. Many of you are injured now and the will to carry on is diminished, but you must continue forward! We all seek the freedom and peace of Rose's Xosha, we must stay together to achieve it!” Oceanus' voice was strong, though as he looked over his small band of dragons his heart grew heavy. They had lost at least three in that fight., they could not afford to lose any more.

 Character Bios:

Pyre is Oceanus’ younger brother, born to the second clutch their parents had. While age wise, he is considered an adult, his actions deem him an adolescent in Oceanus’ eyes. Pyre can be brave, and is always stubborn. Being a red dragon, Pyre can control and manipulate fire at will.
Oceanus is the leader of the dragons that claim Xosha as their home. He is older than many think and tries to do the best he can to lead the dragons that follow him. Being a blue dragon, Oceanus can control and manipulate water at will.

Chosen by the gods, Rose can communicate with them when they need to relay a message. Her odd coloring deemed her an outcast to the horde. Showing no visible abilities, she was deemed weak and useless. Oceanus and Jade are her only friends. Being a white dragon, Rose can heal any wound, and if could in enough time, she can restore the soul to the dead.

The Touch Series cover revamp!

Airicka Phoenix decided to give her well known series a sexy makeover. The revamped covers are gorgeous! I am lucky enough to be apart of it's multi-day reveal. These covers are awesome and totally a visual for how great these stories are.

For sixteen-year-old FALLON BRAEDEN being on the run had been the easiest part of her life. Packing up and crossing whole cities on a split second decision had been tedious, having no friends and being alone had been painful, but being caught by the truth was something she learned too late was worse.

Fallon is a weapon. She was created to destroy. Keeping her alive, keeping her safe is all Isaiah knows. It’s all that matters, because Fallon is his. She belongs to him. She is a part of his body, his soul, his heart. He will do anything, kill anyone to keep her, even if it means sacrificing himself.

But can Fallon believe the stranger on the motorcycle claiming he was there to die for her? How do you trust when you have no one but the memories of a girl you’ve never met and a tall, dark, gorgeous boy that you feel pulsing deep in your soul? What do you do when you’ve been lied to your whole life? When you’re told you’re normal even though nothing about you is normal? Fallon must learn quickly just what she is before the evil chasing her finally gets what it wants… her blood.

The world depends on her not falling in love, not giving in. But what happens when the temptation becomes too great, when falling is her only option? Can she live knowing the world will burn because his touch is the only thing keeping her alive?
Touch Passion. Touch Power. Touch Smoke!

Before Fallon was created to destroy. Before love became the ultimate weapon of destruction. There was Amalie and the horror that started a revolution that tore the fabric of humanity, of everything standing in the balance between power, hope and survival.

Amalie has one wish, one gnawing desire — she wants to die.

She wants to leave this world behind with its pain and darkness. She wants to finally breathe. But Amalie is a prisoner, a disease, not fit for life. She is unwanted, unnatural. She is defective, something useless and broken. Her own mother hadn’t wanted her. Her father hated her. The world shunned her and the only person she had ever loved, truly and with all her heart and soul, couldn’t stand the sight of her, couldn’t stand the thought of ever being with her. She repulsed him. Her insanity disgusted him. He’d forgotten her. He’d left her behind, deserted and abandoned her to a madman hell bent on crushing her, stealing her soul and shattering her will.

But what if she’s finally given hope? A reason to live? Can Amalie finally accept the hand offering so much for so little in return? Can she love again when she has nothing left to give?

Can she finally be free?

Review: Witch Eyes by Scott Tracey

A boy who can see the world’s secrets and unravel spells with just a glance.

A boy who can see the world’s secrets and unravel spells with just a glance.

Braden’s witch eyes give him an enormous power. A mere look causes a kaleidoscopic explosion of emotions, memories, darkness, and magic. But this rare gift is also his biggest curse.

Compelled to learn about his shadowed past and the family he never knew, Braden is drawn to the city of Belle Dam, where he is soon caught between two feuding witch dynasties. Sworn rivals Catherine Lansing and Jason Thorpe will use anything—lies, manipulation, illusion, and even murder—to seize control of Braden’s powers. To stop an ancient evil from destroying the town, Braden must master his gift, even through the shocking discovery that Jason is his father. While his feelings for an enigmatic boy named Trey grow deeper, Braden realizes a terrible truth: Braden may be destined to kill him. **I deleted a line from the blurb because I felt it ruined one of the shocking plots. So if you buy the book DO NOT READ the back blurb, it should have a spoiler alert warning.**

The Review:
What I am about to say next may cause a shock induced heart attack to this who know my book peeves. CAN I GET A LOVE TRIANGLE IN THIS BITCH!

I hate Trey. He is a wimp. Braden deserves better. Braden is the perfect book hero so in my opinion he needs an equally awesome non bitch hero. Helloooo Drew. From the first time he entered the story I was like HIM, he is Braden's match. I never connected with Trey like that.

This book was character heavy which I liked because that adds more surprise factor. You never know who is going to do what and throw a wench in the plans and cause a "dun dun dun" twist.

I cannot wait for Demon Eyes because I never wanted to leave Braden's world.

Cover Whore:
This is a new section of the review where I rate the cover.

Witch Eyes is a book that gives great cover. So far the entire trilogy does. I have seen the first 2 covers. It is the type of cover everyone wants. Once it is seen you will remember it and it will NEVER be mistaken for another series. (Though it has floaty eyes, much like Shannon Delany's 13 to Life) they are easily not mistaken for one another. If you see this cover once you will always remember what book it is when seen again. I lust for this cover. It has so much umf. The feel and tone of the book is in the cover.
